According to its website, the Partido Demócrata Cristiano (Christian Democratic Party) was founded in 1962.
In 1971 the PDC was one of the political parties (alongside the Socialist Party, the Communist Party and other small political parties) that founded the Frente Amplio coalition.
In 1989, the Christian Democratic Party left the Frente Amplio. However in 1994, when the coalition Encuentro Progresista-Frente Amplio was born, the PDC returned to the coalition. Nowadays the Christian Democratic Party is inside another group of the coalition: the Alianza Progresista.

The Flag of the Christian Democratic Party of Uruguay is a red flag (with a very slightly "orangeish" shade of red). It has a white circle in the middle with a dark blue arrow pointing up. Variants of the "arrow pointing up" design are used in other Christian Democratic Parties of different countries, for example in the Chilean Christian Democratic Party. This arrow stands for an "improvement in all orders: economical, social and political". By pointing up, instead of right or left, the arrow defines Christian Democratic Parties as center parties.
Pictures of Christian Democratic Party of Uruguay flag can be seen in the Juventud Demócrata Cristiana - JDC (Christian Democratic Youth) official website. The flag can be seen on interior pictures of a PDC congress made in April 2004.

On the same website of the Christian Democratic Youth, a variant of the PDC flag can be seen next to the door of the place where the Christian Democratic congress was made. This second flag has a dark blue border in the white circle, and a ratio of 1:2.
